Danielle Dunlap has joined team myHMB! We sit down to get the inside scoop on her life.
Welcome Danielle to team myHMB! We are so excited to have you on board and get to know you!
How did you get into CrossFit?
I saw Sam Briggs in 2013 win the CrossFit Games while I was working at Buffalo Wild Wings. I thought she was such a badass and I wanted to do that! I found a CrossFit gym that week! At the time I was in a very unhealthy chapter of my life. Binge drinking, eating unhealthy & surrounded by the wrong people. CrossFit changed my life.
Besides all the training as a professional CrossFit athlete and being a mom, what else fills your time?
I do nutrition coaching and exercise programming for general physical preparedness (GPP) and competitive athletes! I love helping people transition to a healthy lifestyle for life longevity and helping competitive athletes get to the next level.
Besides that in my free time my husband and I love local food and coffee, watching The Office and reading books.
How has your life transitioned since having your daughter Regan?
My life has changed in all aspects. I have a mini me to raise. The challenges of learning patience and learning to be the best mom I can be, is so rewarding though. She’s at a fun age now where she’s starting to talk, and we are teaching her how to cook and workout with us!
Besides CrossFit, what’s your favorite hobby?
I love to program and coach athletes! I spend a lot of time listening to podcasts to gain better understanding on how to be a better coach for them.
Where did your nickname Jacked Danielles come from?
When my husband and I were dating, he was trying to cheer me up. He would go on these rants to boost my mood, along with sending me pictures of puppies 😊
I know as an athlete you have your nutrition dialed in, but if you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Prime dry aged steak & Maryland blue crab 🤤
Speaking of diet, what type of nutrition plan do you follow? Macros, paleo, zone?
I tracked my food from 2017 all the way up until Regan turned one. It got hard after that. I still weigh my food, but I try to listen to my hunger signals and focus on fueling my body for performance. I will track macros once every few weeks to make sure that I am eating enough!
Since taking myHMB, what’s been the biggest thing you’ve noticed?
I noticed less muscle soreness, RIGHT AWAY!
What goals or aspirations do you have for the future?
I have always had goals to compete at the CrossFit Games. My reasons for that goal have come to fruition, I want to provide inspiration to other moms to take care of themselves mentally and physically and to show my daughter that we work hard for our goals and chase them with passion.
What’s one quirky thing that most people don’t know about you?
I love to speak in a different accent when I’m in a goofy mood. Typically, English. 😂
Thanks so much for your time today and welcome to the team!
